Competitive Program

Tryout-based soccer for players ages 8 - 18

COMPETITIVE PROGRAMMING

Our Competitive program spans the ages 8 - 18 years (also identified as U9 - U19 in the soccer community.) Teams are formed by birth year, defined by Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA) and US Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), not by school year, and are sub-divided into the following groups:

X-League:              U9 & U10, playing 7 v 7

Comp League:      U11 & U12, playing 9 v 9 and U13 & U14, which begins 11 v 11 play

High School Age: U15 - U19, which are 9 month programs (with fees prorated accordingly)

TEAMS

Teams are formed based on player's birth year and gender. Within each gender and age group, the club designates a hierarchy of teams: Red (first), White (second), and if interest necessitates -- Silver (third).

FORMING TEAMS

Each year the club holds Player Placements (tryouts) to determine where an athlete is best placed for their individual development. A vast majority of athletes are best served being assigned to a team within their birth-year age group. On occasion, a player may be invited to 'play up' with an older age group.*

Placements are held to appropriately place current players, as well as to assess players from outside the club who are interested in joining PCSC.  These Placements run for two sessions over the course of two days in late May for each age group. The club asks current players to attend Placements in their true age groups. This gives the coaches an opportunity to see the “new” players alongside the current players.

*More information about "playing up" can be found in PCSC's Player Handbook

PROGRAM FEES

Fees vary based on player age and their level of competitive programming, per UYSA.
Click here to view the Club's 2023/24 fee breakdown.

Players are responsible for the following fees:

  • PCSC Program Fees: These may be paid in full or over three installments (June, August & October.)
In special cases, a 10-month payment play may be offered. Payment plans (three or ten installments) incur a one-time $40 fee.

  • UYSA Fees: One-time payment made in full, to UYSA, when a player registers for the 2023/24
year. UYSA fees cover liability insurance, competition fees, and the Legacy Field Fee. Players are ineligible to participate in training or games until this fee is paid.

  • Work Deposit: Every PCSC family, with players U9 and older, is required to complete 15 hours of service for the Club (again, per family, not per player.) Families are given a grace period through August 31, 2023 to complete and submit their hours to the Club. Families who have not completed hours by August 31 will be invoiced for a refundable $500 Work Deposit, due by September 15. (For those on a payment plan, the Work Deposit may be charged over time.)

  • Uniforms : Uniforms are purchased by each family, individually, through Soccer.com. Per industry standards, PCSC is on a two-year uniform cycle, with 2023/24 being the second year. Player numbers are assigned by the Club during the Placement process each year, with returning players given priority to retain their number. Numbers are assigned once per gender, per birth year.
CLICK HERE for detailed uniform information.

  • Tournaments: All PCSC teams will participate in tournaments throughout the year. With the exception of the Park City Extreme Cup in late July, all tournament expenses (entry fee, coach expenses, personal travel) are in addition to PCSC program fees.

  • Trailside Park / Trailside East (turf)
  • Trailside Elementary School
  • Willow Creek Park

  • Matt Knoop Memorial Park
  • Ecker Hill Middle School

Our primary locations for indoor training are:

  • Timpanogos Middle School, Heber (Futsal League)
  • Basin Recreation Fieldhouse (turf & court)
  • PC MARC (court)
  • local elementary school gymnasiums

TOURNAMENT PLAY

All PCSC teams should expect to participate in tournaments throughout the year. The number of tournaments varies based on the age of the team and their level of play.  For the most part, tournaments are either local (across the Wasatch Front) or within driving distance of Park City.

In support of PCSC's philosophy that tournament play is an important part of player and team development, an annual tournament calendar has been created for all PCSC teams. The calendar is shared with each team during the spring and discussed at the start of season team meeting in June. The calendar will outline, in most cases, 2 - 3 local tournaments and 1 - 2 travel or State level tournaments recommended for each team.

For events listed on a team's annual tournament calendar, all rostered players are expected to cover their share of tournament fees and coach expenses whether they elect to participate in the tournament or not (these are an additional expense and not included in annual program fees.)
